Welcome to my New, Old Site.
I warn you, because it’s something you’re not used to any more: You’re going to have to click. Click now, and click lots, damnit! I’m tired of sitemaps and roll out menus and fitting all your navigation into a too-small border along the heavy edge of every webpage.
Click! That’s what the web is for — no roll-over mouse menus here, no swishing, fading, content-switching sections, no find-it-all here sitemaps. This is a breath of fresh air in a system that wants to coddle you at every corner, page, and pixel. You will not be pampered here by the excess of indulgence into your laziness. You will click!
The web is for exploring! Hyperlinks, the fundamental structure of the web, the foundation of what makes the web the “web”, must be clicked. click, a new opinion. click, a new thesis. Click, a good joke. Click, a riveting tale.
I speak to the ever expanding site menus, the over zealous inclusion of every section, niblet, and destination, the expanse of sub-sub-sub menus — none shall show themselves here. I’m striking down my too-many-to-understand menus and leaving you with straight-forward-quickly-digestable paths. When you click, you’ll know where you click to! You haven’t but the choice, with the choice so few.
Back to the basic, back to the fundamental, the clean, the simple, the old. Welcome to my new, old site.
Wow! This is the best use of yellow and black for a website I’ve seen in a LONG while.
Your search of clicks has also paid off usability wise. I find your site much easier to navigate now!
Very cool work Jeff! Thumbs up!
Hey,
what happend to the BF stats pages? I really liked em (actually they are brilliant) – and hope they will get back up in a not so far of future. Nice site otherwise though. And i totaly agree on the clicking part…doing the same on my own rather humble webpage.
Keep having a solid 2006.
Daniel, you can find the BF stats at it’s dedicated site now: http://bf2s.com/ (I was pretty sure it wasn’t running on this site anymore, but whatever.)
Thanks Joen — the design still needs some work — comment list formatting, as an example. And the landing pages for each menu item need a great deal of work — I just wanted to get the base up — I was tired of not having it.
Hehehehe, here here!
Oh…not understand that so much…I just love this site.
Zinc: Heh, no worries — it’s mostly naval gazing…
Very nice-looking redesign. It even makes me forget I can’t be bothered to click :)
who the hell are you?…a hacker?
better find another opponent, geek.
Uhm, wtf are you talking about? Are you getting spammed from my domain or something?
Jeff Minard, you are superb!! We are a, sort of, bf2 clan, and make use of your leaderboard on our
website svo.sandstorm.nl. This site is in dutch, but if you look on page: http://sandy.sandstorm.nl/svowebsite/pages.asp?pageid=19 you will see that we thank you for your
service. we have a present for you:-) we have created an interface that retrieves and analyses the
leaderboard. Yep the flashing lights on our homepage are linked to your leaderboard!! to keep
traffic to a minimum and your serversperformance to max. we retrieve the 20kb leaderboard once in 10 minutes.
furthermore our clanmembers view the leaderboard via the local leaderboard.htm file. if you like this
and want to use this for your purpose you can get the script and technical setup for free. easy
to implement (if you know what you are doing) and could be a excellent service to your customers. Jeff you rule!!
Thanks from Holland.
Thanx Jeff,
Just a short note to say thanks for setting up such a useful website (BF2S.com). You are a boon to on-line gamers everywhere. :)
have a good one, and, may artillary never ruin a your hairstyle……
(just.another) Mullet
Lol. :D
Jeff keep it up man. Without you and your stats board I would be lost I love the improved layout and I appreciate all that you have done in making BF2 that little better for everyone. I hope you continue to get the suport that you deserve.
Hey,
This is really a great site very clean and i love the yellow bird..
Just a short note to say thanks for setting up such a useful website (BF2S.com).
(I agree with him its a great site how did you got your skills like that I love it tottaly fabulous!
I’m trying to get some knowledge of html and databases myself to but its hard how did you learned it? :o
Online study. Read websites, etc. http://sitepoint.com is a good one (their forums saved my life many, many times.) And then after that, just google around. The web is one the most highly self-serving industries out there: compared to, say, going to a construction site and asking for “How to build a house”, you can go to the internet and say “How do I build a website?”
Of course, you’ve gotta really want to learn it for that to work.
Yes I really want to learn it!
When i finished high school I want do study for graphic designer/programmer.
Thanks for the link i’ll try to get something usefull out of it :)
BTW: What language do you think I should study because I can go around the web and search for javascript .php html css and all others,
but that won’t make me any better because I only get knowledge of every language a bit.
So I actually want to specialse myself into a language but I don’t know what the best choice would be.
And this is also the same for creating databases,
I thank you allot!
First of all I would appreciate your very good work on bf2s.com which is still going on.

Cle-eek…? What is this so-called “Cleek”? Nonesense if you ask me! A tale to scare naughty children!

bf2s.com is a sweet site. My BF2 buddies and I use it everyday. Thanks for your work to put this site together.
Hi Jeff, this morning, GMT, I found a very short leader board on bf2s, can’t add more than one.
‘Cause it’s a very usefull side, plz set it up, thanks!
Well, well, first look, then shout!
I notice, u set up a new server, great! And if the stats get updatet in time, all will be fine.
Great effort on http://www.bf2s.com.au
It came out really well. It defines everything really well. Its actually better than the actual game itself.
Your web design skills are really good. I also do web design in Perth >> Western Australia – http://www.hutchens.com.au
Yo Jeff , This site is magwonderful!
I love how with the mouseovers i can see what will be required to get those medals and badges
I so richly deserve! It actually helps me to focus and acheive my unlocks quicker.
Bee Eee Ay Yootiful.
It should be a part of the in game bfhq but hey , that would be foresight and therefore a
non-starter at EA , but I digress.
Keep up the great work.
Yours truly , Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa Dootch!
Is this site for real?
